Battery Disposal
Note on the Disposal of Used Batteries
The following note is addressed to those who use batteries or products with built-in batteries and do not further resell them in the form in which they were delivered to them (end users):
1. Free return of used batteries
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obligated to return used batteries so that proper disposal can be ensured. You can take used batteries to a municipal collection point or to a local retailer. We are also obligated as distributors of batteries to take back used batteries, whereby our obligation to take them back is limited to used batteries of the type that we offer or have offered as new batteries in our range. Therefore, you can either return used batteries of the aforementioned type to us adequately prepaid by mail or hand them in free of charge directly at our shipping warehouse at the address provided in the imprint.
2. Meaning of the battery symbols
Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out trash can (see below). This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of in household waste. For batteries that contain more than 0.0005 mass percent mercury, more than 0.002 mass percent cadmium, or more than 0.004 mass percent lead, the chemical designation of the hazardous substance used is placed below the trash can symbol – with "Cd" standing for cadmium, "Pb" standing for lead, and "Hg" for mercury.
