An impressive palm, complemented by two others, with a height of 25cm completes the nativity scene this year, which Grete Wendt already designed in 1910/11 on behalf of the Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau.

History:

Two impressive palms complete the nativity scene this year, which Grete Wendt already designed in 1910/11 on behalf of the Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau. The production of the foliage, which she executed so artistically during her practical semester, presented us with quite a few puzzles, as the palms' characteristically curved leaves had to be made to 'grow.' Drawn from fine wood shavings, the variously sized leaves are first stained and dried before the 30 palm fronds are glued into the trunk. Leaf by leaf, the lush tree crown takes shape until finally even the last one is in the right place.
