Wendt & Kühn 'Palm for the Nativity Scene, large - 25cm h' 2025

An impressive palm, one of two, with a height of 25cm completes the nativity scene this year, which Grete Wendt already designed in 1910/11 on behalf of the Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau.

History:

Two impressive palms complete this year's nativity scene, which Grete Wendt already designed in 1910/11 on behalf of the Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau. The making of the foliage, which she carried out so skillfully during her practical semester, posed quite a few puzzles for us, as it was necessary to make the palms' distinctively curved leaves "grow." Made from fine shavings, the variously sized leaves are first stained and dried before the 30 palm fronds are glued into the trunk. Leaf by leaf, the lush tree crown takes shape until finally even the last one is in the right place.
