The Three Wise Men, who have complemented the nativity scene arrangement since August, enchant with their own unique charm – through the golden accents, the striking plank arms, and the interplay of brilliant colors, strongly contrasting tones, as well as the use of subdued colors. The decoration of the clothing is truly royal: fine stripe and floral patterns as well as elaborate ornaments inspire awe. For the reissue of the Kings, which Grete Wendt designed in 1910/11 on behalf of the Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau, we analyzed sketches and technical drawings, examined sample figures from different production years, and studied old photographs. Different color variants and decorations were present, and the body posture also varied. When transferring the historical models into production, we selected the figure variants that correspond to today's sense of style while still being connected to tradition.
